Yet to be transformed by mass tourism, Prato provides a perfect environment for immersion in Italian language and culture. Its major sights are predominantly located with the town's medieval walls and in easy walking distance of the Monash Centre.

Prato is well connected by train to Florence (30 mins), Bologna (1 hour), Pisa (1 ½ hours), Lucca (1 hour), Rome (2 hours), Venice and Milan (3 hours), making it an excellent base from which to explore Italy.

Prato, in northern Tuscany, is close to several of Europe's most significant cities and institutions -- Florence airport is a fifteen minute drive away, where short flights can be taken to most major cities in Europe. Prato is on the major north-south railway line in Italy which links Rome with Milan, Turin, Munich and beyond. Prato is 25 minutes from Florence by train.  

The conference will be held at the Monash University Prato Centre, situated on the ground and first floors of the elegant 18th century Palazzo Vaj on Via Pugliesi in the historic centre of Prato, Italy.
